Hiking Bothe-Napa Valley State Park near St. Helena
We have just a few months to go before our big move across the country to Chicago, and I need to say good bye to some redwoods.
Living in San Francisco, the easy path would have been to take a drive to muir woods for the day, and as much as I love muir woods, I knew we could go a little farther and be rewarded with a new experience and hopefully one with less people. The answer was St. Helena.
While St. Helena is known for its cute little town full of tasting rooms, delicious restaurant, and artsy home decor shops, we came for was the promise of a good hike in Bothe-Napa Valley State Park.
The rich smell of damp dirt, the sound of a bubbling creek, and special magic that comes with being in the presence of ancient giants.
Walk along the river bed, over rocks and fallen logs. Make your way up the peak to the top where the view is breathtaking.
We left feeling so alive and grateful for finding such a beautiful place. Hiking Bothe-Napa Valley State Park is a great substitute for the over-crowded muir woods. If you’re ever in the area, St. Helena is a great spot for a day hike and a nice meal.
