Must-Try Cocktails and Beers from Vancouver
In May 2015, we spent my birthday eating and drinking our way through Vancouver. We had no idea that Vancouver was such a great city for bars, and we both were thoroughly impressed with the variety of craft beers and delicious cocktails offered everywhere we went. Here’s a short list of the must-have Vancouver cocktails and beers.
The Lennox Pub

Mandarin Aloe Mandarin Vodka, Aloe Vera Juice, Mandarin Wedge
This drink is SO refreshing! I ordered it and after one sip, Jeremy said: “oh those are dangerous”. It was so memorable, we offered it up as my signature cocktail at our wedding.
Steam Works Brewery
Mmm @steamworksbeer flight. Coconut ale, cucumber ale, IPA, and saison. #beer #beerdo A post shared by Jeremy Widen (@widenmedia) on

Black Cherry Cosmo
This cocktail was SO good, we came back later on our trip and I had a second one.
Gas Town

Lipstick Jungle This was such a fun drink. It tasted like an adult Shirley temple but without the cloyingly sweet part. It was sweet and delicious!
Prospect Point in Stanley Park
#beer flight at the Prospect Point Restaurant in #Vancouver. @stanleyparkbrew pilsner, @bridgebrewcrew pale ale, #DeepCove lager, @parallel49beer Gypsy Tears. Freaking awesome. #beerdo A post shared by Jeremy Widen (@widenmedia) on

Frozen Hard Lemonade
After a very long walk and stiff climb up a hill, this frozen hard lemonade was exactly what I needed to cool off.
Granville Island

Vodka signature cocktail from Liberty Distillery
As pretty as this drink was, I don’t remember liking it. The ingredients sounded sweet but it actually was quite bitter.

Whiskey Signature Cocktail from Liberty Distillery
Jeremy chose a better drink. His whiskey cocktail was sweet and rich tasting and not over powered by the whiskey. We’ve searched for the name of this drink and can’t find it anymore. It may have been seasonal, but we could have sworn it was a “lemonade” or some sort.

Banana Boat cocktail from Sand Bar on Granville Island
I remember being really excited for this since I love banana flavored things. I enjoyed it but If I remember correctly, it was strong and not as “refreshing” as I had hoped. It was more on the sweet artificial banana side. Still good! Sand Bar is still worth going to at any rate.

Surprise Birthday Shot at Public House
Baileys, Kahlua, and bourbon
This was a gift from the bar tender at Public House. It tasted just like a chocolate mudslide and was a perfect end to our drinking adventures in Vancouver.

I wish I had this list before I went to Vancouver last year! I definitely want to go back though so I will have to keep this handy for them 🙂

Thanks Caroline! We really lucked out. I definitely want to go back too! We didn’t get to do any hiking because I got really bad vertigo the last day. Happy Travels to you!
Danielle
Looks like you guys had a blast! 😀

Thanks Danielle! We did! It was our first international trip and really paved the way for more adventures.

I think my picks would be the Frozen Hard Lemonade and the Surprise Birthday Shot… I love Kahlua! Thanks for this helpful Vancouver guide. I still have not been but am hoping to plan a trip soon since I live in San Francisco now! <3

My favorite was probably that Mandarin aloe. I’ve never had a drink like that before. Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a perfect way to spend your birthday! So many delicious options!

Yes! And I didn’t even post all of them! Vancouver is a must-visit if you like alcohol. 🙂
