Candytopia, San Francisco

At the height of the interactive art museums craze in the late twenty teens, San Francisco seemed to have new popups every few months. I had already experienced the museum of ice cream and color factory and thought Candytopia would be of a similar calibur.

I was wrong. So so very wrong.

The sign at the entrance makes a statement and catches your attention. But inside, you soon realize that most of the art is just so-so.

A lot of it was art made out of candy or food.

Off in one corner was a throne made of mirror fragments. It was a fun display, but the floor kinda ruined it for me. They couldn’t have put in something shiny on the floor?

Most things int he ocean room weren’t made out of candy, except the shark that you could pose behind.

And then out of nowhere, they threw confetti at us..

Most of the art was optical illusions meant for photographs. It was dumb and uninspired, but we did our best to make the most of it.
