Hiking Killarney National forest to Torc Waterfall

Killarney National Park is one of Ireland’s many natural jewels and makes up part of the enchanting Ring of Kerry. We parked near Jarveys Rest and Traditional Pub, crossed the road and walked down the street to the entrance.

Our first encounter was the vacant Muckross Abbey.

As you wander, peaceful stillness wafts through the halls. One can almost hear the ghosts of those who lived here long past, walking the halls, praying in the church, and cooking a modest meal in the kitchens.

And some rooms invite you in, but you dare not enter.

Continue up the mountain or save your feet and take a carriage ride back to the car.

We continued on along the flat trail, over old broken walls and beyond bogs. We ended at Torc Waterfall as my feet were tired. We took a horse carriage ride back as our guide gave us a lesson to the types of tress in the area.
