Zero’s first lake Swim at Manistee Campground

With our first camping trip to Yankee springs completed, we wanted another chance to get Zero out in nature before the summer got too hot. We packed up our little old Saturn and made the five hour drive south of Chicago around the tip of Lake Michigan and into Manistee, Michigan.

Zero is ready to go!

The trail to the lake

After arriving and settling into our campsite, we geared up and headed toward the lake. The path lead through a forest with beautifully dappled light.

The forest ended abruptly and gave way to sand dunes covered in grass.

We fitted Zero with a life jacket and plopped him in the water. We hoped for an instant water dog, but Zero had other plans. He paddled with such urgency in his eyes to get back to shore where his little legs could touch.

We spent the rest of the day at the lake, playing with the frisbee and sitting in lawnchairs with ice cold drinks.

Later, after coming back and drying off, Jeremy made the most delicious steak for dinner with a side of corn and beans.

Later, we sat and watched the fire dance under the stars.

After a few days, we headed home. Zero was pooped and ready to go home.
